1. Introduction
Pinnacle Rehab, part of the Wellbeing Solutions Group (hereinafter referred to as “The Group, we, our”) recognise the critical importance of environmental conservation and sustainability in promoting the wellbeing of our communities and preserving the planet for future generations. This policy outlines The Group’s commitment to minimising our environmental impact and fostering a culture of sustainability across our organisation and third-party suppliers.
2. Scope
This policy is applicable to all departments and users of The Group with an expectation that The Group, every employee and third-party it engages, is committed to conducting operations in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.
3. Objectives
The Group’s environmental and sustainability objectives are as follows:
- Waste Reduction: Implement measures to minimise waste generation, increase recycling efforts, and responsible disposal of waste
- Resource Efficiency: Strive to reduce the consumption of natural resources in daily operations, including water, paper and energy, and optimise resource efficiency within each business to reduce The Group’s environmental impact
- Carbon Footprint: Commit to prevent environmental pollution and reduce our carbon footprint by implementing energy-efficient practices and sustainable transportation, minimising vehicle and air travel where possible
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant Australian Commonwealth, State and Local environmental policy, practices, regulations, and industry-specific legislation
4. Implementation
To achieve our objectives, The Group will commit to the following practices and principles:
a. Waste Management:
- Reduce single-use containers
- Encourage use of The Groups kitchens and multi-use utensils and crockery
- Promote responsible disposal and recycling practices, including bin separation for recyclable products
b. Energy Conservation:
- Investigate and implement energy-efficient practices
- Use of digital files, eliminating the need for excessive paper records or printing
- Utilise LED lighting within the offices
- Turn lights off when not in use
- Computers turn to sleep mode when inactive for a short period of time
- Explore renewable energy sources where feasible
c. Transportation:
- Remote working model whereby individual or group internal/external meetings can be conducted through Microsoft Teams
- Power BI Mapping Tool ensuring files are allocated close to a Consultants place of residence, reducing travel and carbon footprint
- Consultants are encouraged to schedule appointments within the same location on the same day to limit travel and therefore carbon emissions
- Staff to conduct regular vehicle servicing to promote vehicle efficiency and minimise pollution
- Where practical, public transport is encouraged
d. Suppliers:
- Prioritise the procurement of eco-friendly and sustainable products and services from our suppliers where practical, that are fit for purpose and cost effective, for example:
- Suppliers who meet the ENERGY STAR® standard at a minimum level of 5 Stars
- Suppliers who provide stationery items with a recycled material content and are recyclable at the end of life
- Information and Communications Technology (ICT) contracts who have provisions for product take-back and appropriate reuse or resource recovery for mobile devices, laptops and toner cartridges
- Suppliers providing products that have energy conservation features in their design
- Cleaning contractors use products that are compliant to ISO14024 or ISO14021 eco labelling standards
- Pest control contracts that use an integrated pest management approach to controlling pests
- Prioritise local suppliers to reduce transportation carbon footprint
e. Education and Training
- Communicate this Policy to The Group’s employees, contractors and third-parties, as well as making this policy available to the general public
- Provide ongoing education and training for Group staff on environmental and sustainability practices
- Foster a culture of responsibility and awareness regarding environmental issues both within The Group and with external suppliers and third-parties
- Report on The Group’s environmental performance in both internal and external communications, where relevant
5. Monitoring and Review
The Group will regularly monitor and review its environmental and sustainability performance to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with organisational objectives and legal requirements. Findings from monitoring activities will inform continuous improvement and any necessary updates to this policy.
